I have no idea of the literal translation, but the actual thing is an image you can print out on some sturdy construction paper to cut out and make a simple shaped creature, person or robot.
I came across this Russian website while searching for stuff about the Venture Brothers. There is also a page with some really advanced oragami going on. It looked way beyond my abilities, but it's pretty cool.
