Garfield Minus Garfield
« on: January 19, 2011, 12:56:35 »
This has aparently been around for a while, but thought I'd share in case I'm not the only one who hadn't seen it.

[From the website:

Garfield Minus Garfield is a site dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb.]

I feel your pain, Arbuckle.

Check out more here.

What's sad is the more I read of these, the more I relate to Jon, and the less funny they become...  maybe I should pace myself before I get too depressed.

Would the same impression be felt if Hobbes was removed from Calvin's toon?

Perhaps...  :)

Calvin without Hobbes

... but considering that Hobbes was imaginary anyway, it doesn't really have the same radical change of meaning.  Just more of an 'adult's eye view'.

Hmm... Yeah... I agree, more impact for the Garfield comics.
"Hello IT. Have you tried turning it off and on again? ... OK, well, the button on the side. Is it glowing?... Yeah, you need to turn it on. Err, the button turns it on. Yeah, you do know how a button works, don't you? No, not on clothes." - Roy (The IT Crowd)
