PS3 gets better with Netflix
« on: November 06, 2009, 00:59:41 »
We just got an email that our PS3 disc is coming from Netflix. Soon we'll be able to stream movies from Netflix to our living room!

If you have a PS3, look for the link on Netflix.com to request your PS3 disc!
"Hello IT. Have you tried turning it off and on again? ... OK, well, the button on the side. Is it glowing?... Yeah, you need to turn it on. Err, the button turns it on. Yeah, you do know how a button works, don't you? No, not on clothes." - Roy (The IT Crowd)

Have you looked into Gamefly?  I've thought several times that it might be a good option...

It sounds cool, but I don't have much game time right now. I might sit down and play a video game with my son for 15-30 minutes in the evening, but lately most of the time that my PS3 has been on it was for streaming internet radio to my stereo.

By the way, Isaac has been getting better at MotorStorm 2. He actually got 4th place in one race and was very excited about that! I do agree that the tracks are tough. We played one yesterday in "Midday" and there were still shadowy sections that I smashed into some rocks, jumped a ramp only to find that there was no landing point going straight across. When my friend Blain was over one time (back in September) we found a couple good tracks that seemed fair.

Awesome! At this point, we've mostly just watched TV shows through it, like The Munsters, Hanna Montana, and The IT Crowd. There have been times when I thought that it looked a little bit blocky, but not too bad. It's great for just picking something to watch on the fly, especially since we don't have cable TV. The stream always seems to run smooth, and the system is set up for pretty simple navigation and controlling with the PS3 controller.

Of course, it also helps to have your "Instant Watch" Queue at Netflix set up in order of which movies/shows you're wanting to watch so it's easier to get to them. Fortunately, if you're watching a series of shows, the "Watched Recently" tab is awesome for jumping to a series that would otherwise be in the middle of your selections to cycle through.
