Title: The Animal!!!!!!
Post by: just_chilin on April 07, 2011, 15:36:31
Hey everyone, for those of us who grew up in the 80's, does any of you remember THE ANIMAL??? I just came across one at a local swap meet, its orange and is from 1990 or 1991. I know they started making them mid 80's so this one must have been from the last batch they made. Anyways, looks awesome, threw some batteries in it and it turns on, moves slow and sounds like there might be a gear stripped, but when it comes onto an object, the claws still come out! Thought id open it up and take a look. Hey, for $3, it was a DEAL. I had one of these when I was 6 or so and remember playing in the dirt and mud with this thing. Good times!!
(didnt know where else to post this, hope this area is ok)
Has anyone seen one of these sell on ebay? I'll probably keep this one, but just curious how much they were going for. thanks.

i remember those!  never had one but always wanted one and liked the commercial.  i think at that time i had a toy bridgelayer truck.  not sure who made it.  was just looking for it but didnt find a pic of it.

it was a white pickup truck that was just battery operated.  it had a bumper on the front that when pushed would activate the bridge on its roof.  the bridge would slide forward, then lower itself and the truck would drive over it.  then the bridge would flip up in the back and be drawn back up on the roof by a toothed gear.

it was a complex operation that im surprised even worked but it did! 8)  anyone have one of those or remember who made them?

edit**  just found it.  the cross boss by galoob, lol  hope im not the only one.

holy crap i forgot all about bigfoot! 4x4x4!!  i had one too! i remember it had a very distinctive smell about it.  very liberal with the lube/grease they used on it.  i liked that you could put it in neutral and just push it around with the lights on. poptart, you and i must be about the same age.  so youre getting old too, lol.  man thanks for posting that. ;D
